Our Great Realization Poems and Stories from Covid 19 Lockdown Times

Today in Room 9 we listened to the story from Tom Foolery called " The Great Realization" and we reflected on the times we have gone through recently and wrote a poem or a story. Some of us wrote a poem and some of us wrote a short story reflecting on what we have realised over this time.

Here is the link to the poem from Tom Foolery.

Here are some photos of our poems/stories

What were we grateful for during the lockdown?

Like everyone around the world New Zealand has been in lockdown for more than 6 weeks to stop the transmission of Covid 19 into the communities. People have been brave and followed the rules and now because of our hard work we have been able to come under level 2.
We are very grateful for the lockdown being lifted and for many other things.

Today in class we did our feeling grateful activity. Some of us did it digitally and some of us did paper weaving. We weaved the people and organisations or things that supported us during the lockdown and for whom we are very grateful for.

Our class brainstorm

The first group of students who are back at school under level 2 after the lockdown. We are completing activities like weaving the names of people who have helped us during the lockdown and jobs we did to support our whanau. We are all grateful for what we had during this time and are so grateful to be back at school. We are so thrilled.

Online Learning - Students using hangout meets to stay connected and do their learning in a group

Some students in Room 9 have been learning about landscapes in a group using Google Hangout Meets. They watched a documentary about the planet Earth and the landscapes on it together and presented their summary of what they learnt from the documentary by writing a story about it. As part of our inquiry learning students read a variety of texts and also choose on their own what they want to read or watch to learn more about the topic they are learning about and this group of three students decided to watch a documentary about the planet Earth together. Amazing effort towards their learning in these times when students are learning from their homes. Well done Luisapeta, Tina and Soloia.

Being back in class

Today I did a hangout with my class from my class (Room 9). It felt so different but really good. I felt very lonely and the silence in the classroom feels sad but I looked around the walls of the classroom and the furniture and pictured each and every student of Room 9 doing what they do in class and that brought a smile to my face.
Really looking forward to welcoming as many of you who can come from 18th May.
Until then take care and keep joining in the hangout meets and working on your learning tasks.
